Denver Wedding Venue- Lord of the Rings Inspired
Denver Wedding Venue – Lord of the Rings Inspired
Why Choose a Lord of the Rings Inspired Wedding?
In the words of our bride Hannah, “my husband and I are self proclaimed nerds.” Since the beginning of their relationship, Jonah and Hannah really bonded over the movie “The Lord of the Rings.” So it was very fitting that once they got engaged, they both agreed that they wanted a beautiful Denver wedding that also incorporated the theme of the Lotr movie throughout.
It Began With the Perfect Denver Wedding Venue
The couple chose The Bella Sera Event Center to host their Lotr theme wedding. After touring many Denver wedding venues, they said they quickly realized that our talented creative team and approach to customizing weddings was the best choice to help them bring their vision to life and help them execute it perfectly. Our event designers helped them with their vision and how to tie everything together from the beginning to end; including their burgundy, gold and greenery decor, creative ideas for a fun event flow and smoking signature drink, incorporating their siblings “surprise dance”, adding unique elements of surprise throughout, and highlighting each of the couple’s custom movie theme ideas they had throughout.
What is Lord of The Rings or “Lotr” about?
The Lord of the Rings is an epic high fantasy novel by the English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. Set in Middle-earth, the story began as a sequel to Tolkien’s 1937 children’s book The Hobbit, but eventually developed into a much larger work. The title refers to the story’s main antagonist, the Dark Lord Sauron, who in an earlier age created the One Ring, allowing him to rule the other Rings of Power given to men, dwarves, and elves, in his campaign to conquer all of Middle-earth.

Guest Seating Poster and Table #’s
What better way to incorporate the Lotr movie than to make each guest’s table the name of a city in the movie, such as Erebor or Shire, etc? Even the font style the bride chose reflected the feeling of the Middle-Earth times in the movie.
The bride custom made their table #’s by printing a photo of the scenery from each city in the movie, and added tiny pebble rocks around the edges of each table #. It was such a creative detail and idea, and I’m pretty sure 60% of the guests, who probably didn’t know that much about the movie, had no idea what all of this meant. This was what the couple loved about the idea of sprinkling Lotr touches throughout, was that a lot of it was very personal and meaningful just to them:). Love it!
Wedding cake design inspired by Lotr
Her younger sibling designed the cake and painted the Third Age time period type emblems and symbols on it. They topped it all off with Tree of Gondor cake topper. But the real highlight was the cake cutting sword that was a mini version of the famous sword “Sting” that they used to cut their cake. We placed it on our one-of-a-kind hanging cake table and adorned it with lots of fresh Italian Ruscus and Seeded Eucalyptus.
Music from Lotr Soundtrack
They had our DJ play songs from the movie soundtrack at strategic moments in the night and they said, “it was awesome”! They said “we knew that most of our guests wouldn’t understand the references throughout the wedding to the movie, but that was okay because it made it even more personal to us, and we loved it”!
The Cocktail Hour and Bar
“The Prancing Pony” was the name of their Bar that was from the movie and labeled with a custom sign they made.
The Menu
They had a private food tasting with the Bella Sera Event Center’s Chef during their planning process, and chose the beef medallions with chimichurri sauce, roasted red potatoes and Chicken asparagus pasta. Several appetizers were passed during the cocktail hour and for dessert guests enjoyed wedding cake and the chocolate fountain. Jonah said they got so many compliments from their guests about the food saying it was unbelievable! Bella Sera has been catering Italian, Mexican and American cuisine for 20 years, and this entree’ is a guest favorite for sure; it’s not just typical wedding food.
First Look
After reviewing the pros and cons of a first look, they knew that spending more quality time with our guests during cocktail hour was really important to us. We worked with the Bella Sera Event Center experts to ensure our “first look” was really special. The bride said she was so relaxed and present all throughout the day because the venue experts took care of everything to a “T”! When she arrived at the venue she said it looked even better than imagined.
Hannah did 3 first looks; one with her bridesmaids, one with her father, and one with her fiancé, and each one was so special to her! She loved seeing the photos of everyone’s reactions. They both said even though they saw each other before the ceremony, the moment the bride came out for the ceremony when everyone was there, was still soooo special. Jonah was more emotional at that moment then the first look.
Dog of Honor Flower Girl
Their dog is such a big part of their lives, so of course they had to include her. “Blue”, their beautiful husky was the “Dog of honor” and walked down the aisle in her tu tu with the groom’s younger brothers as the ring bearer’s.
Sibling Surprise Dance
Hannah’s four brothers created a choreographed surprise dance for them. They made a music mix that started with the Lord of The Rings song, “Misty Mountains”. She was so surprised and just could not stop laughing. She said when they all went over to the dance floor she had no idea what was happening, but the event coordinator sat her down on the dance floor and the lights were lowered. When her brothers came out to this cool “Misty Mountain” song she said she was not expecting something like that at all. It was amazing and hilarious and she LOVED it. All of the guests said it was one of the best wedding surprise moments they had ever experienced.
Conclusion
“All-in-all, our day was absolutely a dream and it’s all thanks to the Bella Sera! Without the thoughtful care and attention to detail that they provided, I don’t think it would’ve been nearly as fun or personal. I still hear from our friends and family about how much fun our wedding was!” – Hannah and Jonah
